The students of IES Calisto y Melibea de Santa Marta de Tormes (Salamanca) have seen the importance of entrepreneurship thanks to the example of the company Global Exchange, with which they have participated in the program «Family Business in the classroom» launched by the association Empresa Familiar de Castilla y León (EFCL) with the collaboration of the Regional Ministry of Education.
The students, a group of 3rd year ESO students, went on March 11th to Global Exchange headquarters in Salamanca, where its vice-president, Juan A. Alanís, explained them the activity of this company, the third operator in the world in currency exchange and leader in Latin America.
During the visit, the students also learned some curiosities about the different currencies that exist in the world and were able to experience first-hand how this company operates, carrying out, in a work station installed for the occasion, currency purchase and sale simulations.
Previously, the students had already been able to learn about the history of this multinational company from Salamanca through the talk given by Juan A. Alanís at the institute on February 17, in which he told them about the origins of his family’s business activity, based on values such as entrepreneurship, effort, continuous improvement, and the importance of the environment.
